Albert Albertsson
Academic Advisor for Energy and Sustainability Albert is a specialist in geothermal energy with extensive experience in developing sustainable energy solutions. He has been instrumental in advancing geothermal projects in Iceland, contributing significantly to the country’s renewable energy landscape. Albert is the concept creator of the Resource Park near the HS Orka Power Plant in Reykjanes, promoting responsible and innovative resource utilization. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the Order of the Falcon on New Year’s Day 2018. Álfhildur Leifsdóttir Academic Advisor for Educational Innovation & STEM Subjects Álfhildur is a specialist in educational development, focusing on innovative teaching methodologies and curriculum design. Her work has enhanced educational practices in Iceland, promoting active learning and student engagement. She has been involved in various projects aimed at improving educational outcomes and fostering creativity in the classroom. Dr. Birna Arnbjörnsdóttir Academic Advisor for Language, History and Education Birna is an expert in education, with a particular emphasis on language acquisition and bilingual education. She has conducted extensive research and published widely on effective teaching strategies for diverse student populations. Her work has been instrumental in shaping language education policies and practices in Iceland. Davíð Stefánsson Academic Advisor for Green Energy Education Davíð specializes in education and green energy, integrating sustainable practices into educational frameworks. Dr. Ellen J. Foster
Academic Advisor for Field-Based Geography and Alumni Engagement Dr. Foster is a professor in the Department of Teacher Education at the University of Mississippi, specialising in geography education and place-based teaching. With a Ph.D. in Geography from Texas State University, her work focuses on integrating local geography, history, and culture into education to foster deeper connections between students and their environments. As a former President of the National Council for Geographic Education (NCGE), Dr. Foster has been instrumental in advancing geography education and professional development for educators. She has co-led multiple GeoCamp Iceland programs, facilitating immersive, field-based educational experiences for teachers and students, and has organised alumni trips to Iceland to continue professional growth through experiential learning. Her expertise in curriculum development, field-based learning, and classroom engagement strengthens GeoCamp Iceland’s mission to inspire educators and students through innovative, place-based educational initiatives. Dr. Robert "Bob" Morrill Academic Advisor for Geography Education Robert is a specialist in geography education, with a focus on experiential learning and field-based studies. He has developed programs that encourage students to engage directly with their environments, enhancing their understanding of geographical concepts. Robert has served as President of the National Council for Geographic Education and has been involved in various initiatives to improve geography education. Sigurður Sigursveinsson Academic Advisor for Geology Education Sigurður is a geophysicist and serves as a contact for geopark initiatives. His expertise in earth sciences and his involvement in geopark projects have been valuable in promoting geological heritage and education. In 2017, he was awarded the Menntaverðlaun Suðurlands (Southern Region Education Award) for his contributions to education in South Iceland. Þuríður H. Aradóttir Braun Academic Advisor for Tourism and Sustainable Travel Þuríður is a specialist in tourism and sustainable travel, currently serving as the Director of Visit Reykjanes. Under her leadership, Reykjanes Peninsula was recognized as one of the Top 100 Global Sustainable Destinations in 2017. She has been instrumental in promoting responsible tourism practices and enhancing the region’s appeal as a sustainable destination. |
